Vilma Luoma-aho is a Post-Doc Researcher at Stanford University. Prof. Luoma-aho is investigating reputation formation of innovations in Silicon Valley. The focus is on social media where the Silicone Valley is a world leader (Facebook, LinkedIn etc.). The project helps understand the role of media in the process of reputation formation of innovations, and provides theoretical tools that can be applied to analyze the environment of an innovation
Nel Ruigrok is a researcher at the Netherlands New Monitor, and research fellow in the Amsterdam School of Communications Research at the University of Amsterdam. Her research interests are the role of media in the political arena, especially during times of conflict.
Visiting Ph.D. Students
Wouter van Atteveldt is a PhD student at the Vrije Universiteit in the Knowledge Representation and Reasoning group of the Artificial Intelligence Department and the Communication Sciences department of the Faculty of Social Sciences. He is investigating techniques to automate the analysis of (Dutch) newspaper articles. This will allow interesting questions about, for example, the relation between media and politics and the objectivity of media to be answered more easily and more systematically. His supervisors are Frank van Harmelen (AI) and Jan Kleinnijenhuis (FSS).
Evangelos Syrigos is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Management Science and Technology at the Athens University of Economics and Business in Athens, Greece. Evangelos studies the news media performance as a discovery mechanism for understanidng firms' hidden competitive advantages that other mainstream competitive analysis practices fail to sort out. His supervisor is Professor Yiannis Spanos.
